Background

The process for the review and update of the guidelines and guidance on best available techniques and best environmental practices is ongoing in accordance with decision SC-8/6 and is conducted by the experts nominated by parties and others through the joint Toolkit and best available techniques and best environmental practices expert roster. By decision SC-8/6 the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention adopted the terms of reference for and the workplan of the experts on the review and update of the guidelines on best available techniques and best environmental practices relevant to the persistent organic pollutants listed in Annex C and of the guidance on best available techniques and best environmental practices relevant to the persistent organic pollutants listed in Annex A or Annex B to the Convention.
