The first Party to request extension of exemptions in the Register of Specific Exemptions was the Republic of Korea: the initial requests were later revised by the Party and communicated to Parties and observers on 10 December 2024.

The reports from the Party justifying its continuing need for registration of the exemptions are available here. These were circulated to Parties and observers on 8 May 2024, with a request to submit other available information relevant to the report, as far as possible in English, at least 6 months before the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties.
By decision SC-12/1 the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention took note of:

The Conference of the Parties decided to agree to the requests by the Republic of Korea for the extension of entries in the register of specific exemptions for four years, until 2 June 2030 for:
(a) PFOA, its salts and PFOA-related compounds for use in fire-fighting foam for liquid fuel vapour suppression and liquid fuel fires (class B fires) in installed systems, including both mobile and fixed systems, in accordance with paragraph 2 of part X of Annex A;
(b) PFOS, its salts and PFOSF for use for fire-fighting foam for liquid fuel vapour suppression and liquid fuel fires (class B fires) in installed systems, including both mobile and fixed systems, in accordance with paragraph 10 of part III of Annex B.
