Chemicals proposed for listing under the Convention

Any Party may submit proposal for listing a new chemical in Annex A, B, or C of the Convention. The POPs Review Committee evaluates the proposals and makes recommendations to the Conference of the Parties on such listing in accordance with Article 8 of the Convention.

Currently, the following chemicals are under review:

Dechlorane Plus   Methoxychlor   Chlorpyrifos

Chlorinated paraffins   LC-PFCAs   UV-328

Pursuant to Article 8 of the Convention, the POPs Review Committee has completed the risk profile (UNEP/POPS/POPRC.14/6/Add.1) and risk management evaluation (UNEP/POPS/POPRC.15/7/Add.1) for perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), its salts and PFHxS-related compounds.

The Committee recommended that the Conference of the Parties consider listing PFHxS, its salts and PFHxS in Annex A to the Convention without specific exemptions (decision POPRC-15/1). In order to support Parties and observers and to facilitate the identification of substances, an initial indicative list of PFHxS, its salts and PFHxS-related compounds has been prepared as set out in document UNEP/POPS/POPRC.15/INF/9. The recommendation for listing PFHxS, its salts and PFHxS in Annex A to the Convention will be considered at COP-10 in June 2022 (UNEP/POPS/COP.10/12).
