Parties that produce or use DDT are required to report the conditions of such production or use to the Secretariat. This reporting obligation is fulfilled by completing a DDT questionnaire that was first adopted by COP-3 to the Stockholm Convention. In 2025 the Conference of the Parties (COP-12) adopted an updated version of the questionnaire by decision SC-12/2.
Paragraph 4 of Part II of Annex B to the Convention stipulates the DDT reporting requirements, including the amount used, conditions of use, and its relevance to disease management strategies. Parties are also able to report other information relevant to the evaluation of the continued need for DDT for disease vector control.
The questionnaire is composed of four main sections:
- Section A: Production and Use of DDT
- Section B: DDT Alternatives (Insecticides, methods, and strategies)
- Section C: General Human and Environmental Safety Issues
- Section D: Systems Strengthening in Disease Vector Control
The next reporting deadline is 30 June 2026 for the two-year period 2024- 2025.
